Deb and Rod O'Malley provide a unique therapeutic program, Learn from Horses. Our daughter has completed the program and has had amazing growth in her self-confidence, self-esteem and communication skills in the three weeks of the course than in the previous two years. The positive changes that have occurred in our daughter are the result of this wonderful program. The participants of the program learn to communicate with the horses through body language, which provides the participants with immediate non-critical feedback from the horses. These communication skills are directly transferable to peers. We highly recommend this innovative program.

I am writing to express my sincerest thanks and appreciation for the respect, care, education and love you show my out of home care child! He did not receive the start in life that he so richly deserved and now consequently shoulders Complex PTSD, ASD 2, ADHD and ASTHMA as he navigates his way through life. I am thrilled to have found you and your programme to help me in my quest to remove some of the barriers to his future.

It is your consistent insight, understanding, care, concern and incredible knowledge that has helped this little boy access a powerful mode of social and emotional learning. You regularly challenge and support him through invaluable learning experiences that provide him with appropriate social /emotional and behavioural tools and life skills. He benefits enormously from your equine assisted life coaching course.

Your Learn from Horses programme is making way for a brighter future!

Thank you Deb and Rod!

In appreciation for your input and efforts, which are making a huge and positive difference to him each and every day,

The St Vincent De Paul Society’s, Breaking the Barriers program are proud to be affiliated with the reputable Horses Helping Humans – Learn from Horses program.

Through partnering with Deb and Rod from Learn from Horses, we have been able to provide equine assisted life coaching to over 30 children in 2017, all of which have experienced complex trauma and display pain based behaviours.

The Learn from Horses program has provided our clients with valuable life skills including; self-regulation strategies, awareness of the impacts of body language on communication, further development of their self-esteem and self-worth, coping skills for educational environments and strategies for positive peer relationships and social interactions.

The Learn from Horses program provides a safe, secure and nurturing environment for our clients to self-discover and develop their potential in an alternate learning environment.

Feedback from Caseworkers identifies that this program is having a significant positive impact on participants, especially their resilience.

We would highly recommend this program to either individuals or targeted client groups who have been impacted by complex trauma.

I write to endorse the program, practices and professionalism of the Equine Assisted Learning model implemented by Deb and Rod O'Malley on their property outside Wauchope NSW.

Nautilus Senior College is a small, independent NFP school, with an age range of approximately 14-17 years of age. Most students that are enrolled have either been expelled from mainstream schooling for behavioural issues or chose to leave due to issues around harassment and bullying. We have a high percentage of students managing issues such as stress, anxiety, depression and substance abuse as well as diagnoses such as ADHD, OCD, Autism and other intellectual disabilities.

We enrolled three student in the Learn from Horses program in early April 2019. Since that time we have noticed remarkable improvements in all aspects of the students' engagement. The students have become more settled in their approach to learning, more understanding in their relationships within our school environment, and more open and willing to challenge any obstacles. The students' are building skills in self-reflection, empathy and problem solving in all aspects of their day to day learning and are able to gauge personal growth through meaningful discussion and feedback. At all times Rod and Deb have been welcoming, understanding, professional and personable.

I have found Equine Assisted Learning to be a very useful intervention program and very powerful in its ability to meet the needs of young people. We have observed significant improvements in all students that are currently attending and it is my pleasure to provide a complete and comprehensive endorsement to Deb and Rod for the work they do and I congratulate them for the contribution they make to education in the Port Macquarie region.

Disclosure - I'm biased! My wife and I have had such a great experience with this charity. The astounding progress and positively beneficial effect on our family following our daughter's initial course has been nothing short of a miracle. Those that experience mental health illnesses through friends or family often see no light at the end of the tunnel. We, through Deb, Rod and a few good ponies feel like we found the holy grail. Almost twelve months after our daughter's initial exposure to equine therapy the gift continues to give. Our daughter's mental health remains a day to day proposition but Learn From Horses gave us hope - and hope was not even on our radar twelve months ago.
